Unfortunately, most people initially resort to these poor teaching methods before they seek professional help.

When I First Started Learning Guitar I Didn't Know How To Get Started Or Where To Go For Help

Before I reached out for professional help, my guitar playing progress greatly suffered. I constantly felt frustrated because every method I was trying led me two steps backwards. I tried every so-called “guitar teacher”, YouTube channel and outdated textbook that existed. Once I realized the only way to become a great guitar player was to reach out to an expert, I instantly contacted a guitar teaching professional. When I began working with a certified guitar teacher, my guitar playing skill improved dramatically and with ease! While working with a certified guitar instructor, I was not only taught how to play guitar, but he inspired me, motivated me, and encouraged me to keep working towards my musical goals. Learning the guitar with experts will not only give you inspiration and motivation, but will get you playing your favorite songs and jamming with your friends sooner than you think!

"I wanted to improve every day and become a great guitar player."

I chose to take guitar lessons with A-Sharp Guitar because I could tell they were focused on improving students' individual technique whereas just passing time by without getting anywhere. I wanted to improve every day and become a great guitar player.

I like learning new skills that can be applied for any song in every genre of music. It's also nice once you get the hang of something you once thought was so difficult, making yourself a more confident guitar player.

I had zero hand-eye-coordination skills when I started. Tablature was something that was difficult for me because my finger placement needed to be faster and smoother. I saw an improvement from the first day, week, and month, and I am still improving to this day 8 months later.

I have a tendency to stress over things that don't need to be over speculated. When I first started, I thought, "Oh my gosh, I don't know how to do any of this," but after going by the book, and practicing whenever I got a chance, I became less overwhelmed and more relaxed. Now it's much easier for me to pick up things I didn't know before.

Here's Why So Many Beginner Guitar Players Struggle To Make The Progress They Want:

1. Learning Guitar From Your Friend Who “Knows How To Play”: Why do people attempt to learn guitar from friends who “know how to play”? The thought of learning guitar through a friend may sound comforting, however, learning from someone who isn’t an actual professional guitar teacher will do damage to your progress. How? Your friends don’t have the most modern, and up to date teaching methods (if any methods at all!), they lack the experience of successfully teaching students, and more importantly, they are not professionals! If you want to see results, keep your friends as friends and work with the experts!

2. Attempting To Teach Yourself Through Google, YouTube, Or Other Unreliable Sources: Why do so many people struggle getting results through self-teaching? Self-teaching is dangerous to success and will certainly do nothing but damage your guitar playing progress. If you attempt to learn the guitar through a YouTube channel or some other unreliable source, you will be given poor practice methods, incorrect advice, no organization or encouragement to keep you motivated towards your guitar playing goals! Think of self-teaching as putting yourself in “reverse”…if you want to move forward, begin working with a guitar teaching professional and start seeing results!

3. Choosing Your Guitar Teacher Based On Location Or Price: Lastly, why do people get poor results when they choose their guitar teacher based on location or price? Cheap price, cheap results! People who base their decision on location or price will end up with a low grade “teacher” who will not deliver any value or results to you! Understand your time is worth more than low-grade lessons and begin working with professionals who will deliver over the top value making it completely worth your time! Do you want back of the line service or the red carpet treatment that guarantees results? You decide!

Most people who try to learn how to play guitar from the mentioned above methods, typically result with more frustration and confusion than they had before they started. When we meet people who are inquiring about guitar lessons, they tell us how frustrated they are from trying all of these unsuccessful methods that lead their guitar playing nowhere!

"My doubts of being "good" at guitar have completely been erased from the fantastic teaching a A-Sharp."

I wanted to be taught by professionals. I chose A-Sharp, which is the best decision I have ever made regarding music lessons, because I get taught by professionals IN SUITS that care about the curriculum and students.

I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment I get. In just 2 years, these amazing teachers have shown me a path that has made me the guitar player I am today. It's an amazing feeling to play and feel like you're great at something.

I came to A-Sharp knowing 3 chords...D, C, and G major. In the past 2 years, since coming to A-Sharp, I now know hundreds of chords. I know the inversions, I understand music theory and I can improvise and play with others with fluency! They gave me the confidence I needed to play on stage and with others. My doubts of being "good" at guitar have completely been erased from the fantastic teaching at A-Sharp.

I would without a doubt recommend A-Sharp Guitar Instruction to any person/persons who wishes to succeed musically.

"I have improved more in the last year than I did in the last 15."

I have been playing guitar for many years on my own. I did take lessons when I first started playing and learned a few chords and very basic concepts. I have struggled over the years attempting to improve on my own. I tried a little of everything like purchasing various instruction manuals, Internet courses, song collections, etc. I managed to become proficient at playing many chords and came up with a collection of songs that I could play and sing. This is all over a period of 15 years. The most important thing I did was I kept playing.

However, when I look back at the last year and half, (that I have been taking lessons with A-Sharp Guitar Instruction) I realize that I wasted so much time and money struggling and being frustrated that it is amazing that I am still playing. I have improved more in the last year than I did in the last 15. I understand what I am doing now. I have written 5 original songs in the last 8 months and I am going into the studio with my first one soon.

My teacher is very focused and systematic in his approach. He is invested in my improvement. He expects me to be accountable and in return he invests his time and energy to develop organized lessons in a very interesting and fun environment.

This is the culture at A-Sharp Guitar Instruction. Al of the owners and instructors are accessible and willing to help. Music is such an important part of life. The instrument that you play is your means to expression and the better you are able to manipulate the instrument the more options and more fun you will have doing it.

I recommend A-Sharp Guitar Instruction to any aspiring musicians and I would suggest to anyone who is not an aspiring music that they are lying to themselves.

"I enjoy lessons because I always end up leaving more inspired than when I showed up."

At A-Sharp they have various programs, so if you're serious about becoming a musician, you can sign up for multiple classes that focus on different aspects. Also they do recitals and set-up opportunities for you to learn how to perform.

I enjoy the community aspect, it allows you to meet people who share your interest and jam with others on your level. Most of all I enjoy the lessons because I always end up leaving more inspired than when I showed up.

I'm noticing progress in all areas of my playing. My overall musicianship has improved greatly and I'm feeling more confident about my ability to perform.

Before taking lessons at A-Sharp I taught myself quite a few things, but I didn't know what I was doing. I was procrastinating when it came to learning music theory, because I thought that it was boring and all I wanted to do was play. Lessons at A-Sharp have helped me to see that music theory is interesting and can even be fun.

"I really enjoy lessons knowing that I am going to receive constructive input on my playing, be challenged at an attainable level, and have fun while learning."

This will be year 5 of taking lessons with A-Sharp Guitar Instruction. I have stayed with them for so long in part to the expertise of the teachers, the insightful guidance, and quality of the material provided.

I really enjoy lessons knowing that I am going to receive constructive input on my playing, be challenged at an attainable level, and have fun while learning.

Improvement in my playing can be kind of sneaky. It's not always so obvious to me that I've improved, but anytime I look back at where I started from I'm amazed at how far I've come. Being able to play without tension is one of my most recent accomplishment.
